A New Era for Nonprofit Advocacy?
Last week's U.S. Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission has raised concerns in the nonprofit world about the weakening of its ability to influence public policy. The ruling lifted restrictions on corporate contributions to election campaigns. Corporations will no longer be limited to setting up separate political-action committees but will also be able to use their own resources to bankroll efforts to assist people seeking elected office.
