The William J. Clinton Foundation is to build the world’s largest solar-power station in the Indian state of Gujarat near the Pakistan border, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Saurabh Patel, Gujarat energy minister, told the British daily that officials with former President Clinton’s philanthropy have signed a memorandum of understanding to construct a solar park capable of generating 5,000 megawatts of electricity. The project is part of an effort to increase solar-power use in India and turn the country’s desert border with Pakistan into a major solar hub.
