Donations Reported by 287 United Ways for 2007
United Ways nationwide raised $4.2-billion in their 2007 campaign season, a 2.4-percent increase in contributions over the previous year. That was not enough to keep pace with inflation, however, which was 4.1 percent last year.
Fifty-eight percent of the nation's 1,285 local United Ways reported increased donations in their most recently completed campaigns, compared with 60 percent last year. Another 10 percent reported that donations were flat last year.
