Join The Chronicle and Bolder Giving for a live online discussion with the philanthropist and filmmaker Abigail Disney.
Ms. Disney, granddaughter of Roy O. Disney, a co-founder of Disney with his brother Walt Disney, has used some of her family's wealth to support an array of causes.
Her endowed family fund, the Daphne Foundation, gives more than $850,000 annually to causes in New York. She is also a prominent activist on international causes and recently financed and produced a documentary film "Pray the Devil Back to Hell" to call attention to the plight of women in Liberia.
"A lot of people give away the froth on their cappuccino," Ms. Disney said in an essay on rhw Bolder Giving's Web site. "Why stop there?"
Ms. Disney will discuss her approach to giving and offer advice to nonprofit leaders who want to learn about how to approach wealthy philanthropists who are interested in supporting their causes.
