How Businesses Can Create Social Change

Wednesday, June 23, at noon U.S. Eastern time

With the recent BP oil spill and Wall Street bailouts, the business world is struggling with a less-than-pristine image these days.

But Harry R. Halloran Jr., a philanthropist who is the chairman and chief executive of American Refining Group, an oil refinery in Bradford, Pa., and the founder of Energy Unlimited, a company involved in renewable energy, thinks businesses can do much to help society and drive positive social change.

The Chronicle has teamed up with Bolder Giving, an organization that works to encourage philanthropists to give more generously, to develop a series of online discussions with some of the nation's most interesting philanthropists.

Join us on Wednesday, June 23, at noon U.S. Eastern time when Mr. Halloran will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about supporting socially responsible business and how such businesses can drive positive social change. Also joining the discussion will be Anne Ellinger, a philanthropist and a co-founder of Bolder Giving.
