Young nonprofit workers are often frustrated by the notion that charities and foundations rarely offer clearly defined career paths.

In a new book, Trista Harris and Rosetta Thurman, two young nonprofit workers, provide the sort of career guidance they wished they had received.

How to Become a Nonprofit Rockstar: 50 Ways to Accelerate Your Career offers advice on moving beyond the bottom rungs at a nonprofit to a position of leadership.

Join us on Monday, November 1, at noon U.S. Eastern time when Ms. Harris and Ms. Thurman will field questions about overcoming career obstacles and preparing for a successful nonprofit career.

The guests:

Trista Harris is executive director of the Headwaters Foundation for Justice, a community foundation in Minneapolis. She was previously a program officer at the Saint Paul Foundation. Ms Harris writes about generational change on her blog, New Voices of Philanthropy http://www.tristaharris.org.

Rosetta Thurman started her own consulting firm, Thurman Consulting, in Washington, which specializes in providing leadership, diversity, and social-media advice to nonprofit groups and other types of clients. Ms. Thurman blogs about leadership at http://www.rosettathurman.com. She also writes blogs for The Chronicle of Philanthropy and other publications.
