Planning a gala or other fund-raising event often becomes an all-consuming task. As a result, few nonprofits give much thought to what happens after an event, even though that is equally important, says Lisa Reilly, executive director of the Emelin Theatre, in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
"Thinking about the post-event can be very difficult to get to," says Ms. Reilly. "It tends to fall to the bottom of the priority pile."
Ms. Reilly says follow-up with participants after an event gives a charity a chance to connect with potential new donors and reinforce a group's image.
Also joining this podcast is Tara Slone, head of the consulting firm Marketing Matters, in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Together they discuss how to thank people who attended, connect them to the cause, and figure out the best ways for staff members and volunteers to debrief after an event is over.
