Endowments have long seemed to be bottomless resources for many organizations. But Kathryn Miree, an endowment-management consultant in Birmingham, Ala., says the poor economy, mismanagement, and lawsuits have forced many groups to rethink the way they manage their endowment funds.
In an interview with The Chronicle and Tony Martignetti Nonprofit Radio, Ms. Miree offers some advice on how endowment managers can make smart decisions about these important funds.
