Now that most groups share their news on Twitter and Facebook, many groups are rethinking the way they approach communications and public relations.

Stephanie Bowen is director of communications and marketing at KaBoom. She was a broadcast journalist for 15 years, working first for CNN and later as a freelance journalist before moving into nonprofit communications more than six years ago.
