Background: Stacy Palmer is editor of The Chronicle of Philanthropy, which is considered the number-one news source in the nonprofit world. She has served as a top editor since the newspaper was founded in 1988 and has overseen the development of its Web sites, Philanthropy.com and Philanthropy Careers.

Palmer regularly is a featured speaker or panel moderator at The Chronicle's own conferences and webinars, as well as those sponsored by organizations such as CauseWired Communications; the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education; onPhilanthropy.com, the media arm of international philanthropic services company Changing Our World, Inc.; National Student Partnerships; the Philanthropy Roundtable; The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network; the Urban Institute; the Western Knight Center for Specialized Journalism; and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.

Before she joined The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Palmer was editor for government and politics at The Chronicle of Higher Education. She is received a bachelor's degree in international relations from Brown University in 1982.  She has been an active alumnus, serving on numerous alumni boards, including chairing the Brown Alumni Magazine.

Publications:  Challenges for Philanthropy and Nonprofits: The Courage to Change (2004, University Press of New England at Tufts University), a book that collects three decades of observations by the nonprofit activist and Chronicle of Philanthropy columnist Pablo Eisenberg.

Media Appearances: Palmer frequently appears on radio and television to offer commentary on news in the nonprofit world.  Among the shows that have hosted her as an on-air guest are ABC News's 20/20, Bloomberg Television's Money & Politics, C-SPAN's Washington Journal, CNN's American Morning, FOX Business Channel's Fox Business, MSNBC's News Live and PBS's The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and the following public radio programs:  American Public Media's Marketplace Radio; National Public Radio's All Things Considered, Day to Day, Here & Now, Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation, The Tavis Smiley Show and Weekend Edition Saturday; WAMU 88.5 FM's The Kojo Nnamdi Show (Washington, DC public radio).  She's also interviewed on blogs such as Sean Stannard-Stockton's Tactical Philanthropy.
