Trustees Step Down at California United Way

In the wake of a major financial crisis at the United Way of Santa Clara County, all 18 members of the board have agreed to resign by September 30 and be replaced with new trustees.

In May, the board fired executive director Eleanor Jacobs, after the organization found itself facing an estimated $11-million shortfall and on the verge of financial collapse (The Chronicle, May 20).
