Social-networking Web sites such as Twitter and Facebook get much of the attention, but e-mail remains an effective medium for nonprofit groups to connect with supporters and promote social change.

Kivi Leroux Miller, a marketing consultant to nonprofit groups, and Marc Sirkin, chief community officer at Autism Speaks, discuss effective e-mail communications strategies with Allison Fine, the host.
