What Works in Appeals for Needy People
Charities that raise money for the poor should emphasize their recipients' desire to work, a new study by a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, suggests.
The study shows that even among donors judged to be "humanitarians," willingness to give to the poor is based on whether the impoverishment is thought to be self-inflicted through laziness.
