World's Wealthiest People Gave $285-Billion

The wealthiest individuals in the world gave more than $285-billion to charity in 2006, according to the "2007 World Wealth Report," an annual look at the financial practices of high-net-worth individuals.

The report was produced by Merrill Lynch & Company and the Capgemini Group.

Collectively, people with financial assets of more than $1-million (excluding the value of their homes) were worth $37.2-trillion last year, according to the report.
