Nonprofit Journalism Site Wins Milestone Pulitzer

The nonprofit digital newsroom ProPublica was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting Monday, the first time an online news outlet has won journalism's most coveted award, Reuters and the Associated Press report.

ProPublica was honored for its reporting on care at a New Orleans medical center in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, a collaboration with The New York Times that was published in the daily newspaper's Sunday magazine. The two-year-old, donor-supported organization offers many of its stories to traditional news organizations.
