Update: Oil Heiress Loses Challenge to Father's Charity Bequests

The $500-million estate of Texas oilman Alfred C. Glassell Jr. will be split between his family foundation and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, per his 2003 will, Bloomberg reports.

A Houston jury on Monday shot down Curry Glassell’s challenge to the will, the last of more than a dozen Mr. Glassell signed before his death last year at age 95. Ms. Glassell, who was set to receive $100-million in an earlier will, claimed her father was mentally incapacitated and was coerced into changing his bequests.

The Houston museum, of which Mr. Glassell was a major benefactor during his lifetime, will receive half the estate. It is expected to be a prime beneficiary of the Glassell Family Foundation, which will get the other half of the money.
