Could a new blog offer the 21st-century version of an old-boys network for philanthropy? Well, probably not.
The blog, Men in Philanthropy, promıses to be “an online community for men who have found no home among the 4,327 philanthropic affinity groups established over the years.”
But the anonymous author has hıs tongue firmly in cheek. He dedicates the sıte to “recognizing the vast, marginally relevant contributions men have made to the world of philanthropy” and plans to hold a conference soon for Y-chromosone grant makıng
“We have a limited number of rooms set aside at the Ritz Carlton, Caymen Islands, at the special conference rate of $1,752 per night, thus allowing you to preserve precious foundation resources,” the author writes. The meeting, the author says, will feature “a session titled, “Status-Quo Philanthropy: The New Innovation that’s Rocking the Sector.”
What do you think? Did this satıre make you laugh? Or cringe?
