Since TechFlash, a technology blog, broke the news a few weeks ago that Bill Gates was setting up a new company, rumors have swirled about its mission.
But despite the speculation, the entity, known as bgC3, will not be a commercial venture, but an office to allow Mr. Gates to coordinate his business and philanthropic activities, according to Fortune magazine. Mr. Gates will use the space to meet with foundation officials, scientists, and friends to brainstorm on global problems, technology ideas, and other matters, the magazine writes.
And The Wall Street Journal’s Business Technology blog says there is a more practical purpose behind Mr. Gates’s new office. “It’s a short drive from his home, without having to fight the bridge traffic to Seattle,” writes Robert A. Guth, the blog’s author.
Given the new organization’s role as a quasi-think tank, what would you like Mr. Gates to consider within its four walls? What philanthropy issues or causes would you like to see the technology mogul mull over?
