The Heinz Family Foundation on Tuesday announced winners of its annual cash prizes to people doing extraordinary work to aid the poor, improve the environment, promote the arts, and shape public policy, notes USA Today.
This year’s 10 winners focused on the environment; each one receives an unrestricted $100,000 cash prize.
Among the winners are Terrence Collins, a chemist who seeks to educate the next generation of scientists about reducing the dangers of chemicals; Cary Fowler, who established the Global Seed Vault; and Daniel Sperling, who works to advance sustainable transportation policies.
