Catholic Charities Receives $100-Million Federal Contract

August 5, 2009, 12:17 pm

Catholic Charities USA has been awarded a five-year, $100-million federal contract to provide disaster aid nationwide, reports the Catholic News Agency.

The federal contract is the first in the religious charity’s 100-year history. Awarded last month, in time to mobilize relief efforts for the coming hurricane season, the deal allows the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to turn over to Catholic Charities the task of organizing national, regional, and local relief teams and managing cases arising from past disasters.
