A Michigan legal network is pursuing a class-action lawsuit against the pop star Lady Gaga over her sale of wristbands to benefit Japan earthquake victims, Reuters writes.

The legal group, 1800Lawfirm, alleges that Lady Gaga and other entities that sold and marketed the $5 “We Pray for Japan” bands overcharged buyers for shipping and inflated reported donation totals.

“While we commend Lady Gaga for her philanthropic efforts, we want to ensure that claims that ‘all proceeds will be donated to Japan’s earthquake’ are in fact true,” said  Alyson Oliver, one of the lawyers.

Representatives for the singer, who has reportedly given about $3-million to Japan relief efforts through sales of the wristbands and other ventures, did not return Reuters’s calls for comment.
