A Pennsylvania judge ruled Friday that the insurance firm for The Second Mile, the youth charity founded by convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky, will not have to cover his legal costs, reports the Centre Daily Times.

Federal Insurance Co. argued in a civil suit brought last year that it was not liable for the former Penn State assistant football coach’s defense bills. Mr. Sandusky is serving a 30- to 60-year state prison terms after being found guilty in June of sexually abusing 10 boys he met through The Second Mile, which provided sports and education programs for at-risk youth.

U.S. District Judge Yvette Kane said Federal is not responsible for Mr. Sandusky’s legal costs because the abuse “was personal in nature, and performed in his individual capacity” rather than as an employee or official with The Second Mile.
