Clinton to Mobilize Nonprofits and Businesses to Focus on Jobs

Bill Clinton plans to press corporate leaders to finance new private efforts to jump-start the U.S. job market at a Clinton Global Initiative conference starting tomorrow, Bloomberg writes.

More than 700 politicians, administration officials, business leaders, and nonprofit executives are expected at the two-day meeting in Chicago, the first Clinton organization gathering to focus solely on the United States.

In a conference call with reporters, Mr. Clinton said private efforts to increase hiring were necessary because Washington’s focus on the budget deficit made it “inconceivable to me there’ll be another big government stimulus program any time soon.” He said he hoped to unlock some of the $1.9-trillion in idle corporate assets.
