The actor Paul Newman, who died on Friday of cancer, expressed his wish to have his philanthropic endeavors continue after his death through his Newman’s Own Foundation, reports the Associated Press.
According to two friends of the actor, Mr. Newman wanted to be remembered for helping to start the Hole in the Wall camps for children with serious illnesses and to ensure that his popular food company, Newman’s Own, would continue to donate 100 percent of its profits to charity. To date, the company has given more than $250-million.
Said one of the actor’s friends, Robert Forrester, “He said, ‘When I’m not here, this foundation is to continue the tradition of giving all of this money away.’”
Mr. Forrester said the Newman’s Own company plans to expand and donate even more to fulfill Mr. Newman’s wish.
