Christina Hull Paxson, the dean of Princeton University’s prestigious public-affairs school, has been chosen at the new president of Brown University, writes The Boston Globe.
The university announced the selection Friday. Ms. Paxson will take office on July 1, replacing the Ruth Simmons, who is retiring from the presidency but will continue as a professor.
An economist by training, Ms. Paxson became dean of Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs three years ago. During her tenure she opened up the Wilson school’s admissions process in an effort to broaden its reach in the wake of the closely watched donor-intent case Robertson vs. Princeton.
That suit, settled in late 2008 before Ms. Paxson became dean, accused the university of not doing enough to prepare students for government service.
