Donald Trump filed a lawsuit against Bill Maher Monday seeking payment of a $5-million charity bet the comedian made on television last month, Politico reports.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Mr. Maher said he would give the money to a charity of Mr. Trump’s choice if the billionaire mogul produced a birth certificate proving he is not the “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.” During the presidential campaign, Mr. Trump had offered to pay $5-million to charity if President Obama released his college records.

“Bill Maher made an unconditional offer … I, without hesitation, accepted his offer and provided him with the appropriate documentation,” Mr. Trump said in a statement. He said he would donate the money to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, Hurricane Sandy victims, March of Dimes, and the Police Athletic League.
