Families of Colorado Victims Call for Inquiry Into Charities

October 10, 2012, 11:42 am

Relatives of people killed or injured during a mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater have asked state officials to investigate two charities that collected money for victims, according to USA Today.

At issue are the methods that the organizations Giving First and the Community First Foundation used to raise money. Family members say that the groups used the names and images of shooting victims without their permission, and they are questioning how the money raised has been spent.

Twelve people died and 57 were injured in July when a masked shooter opened fire in a theater in Aurora, Colo.
