Feed the Children Chief Takes Reduced Role as Part of Settlement

August 14, 2009, 12:34 pm

Larry Jones, founder of Feed the Children, will cede operational control of the hunger charity as part of a settlement of his legal dispute with the organization’s board of directors, The Oklahoman reports.

Mr. Jones will remain with Feed the Children as a spokesman and fund raiser.

The Christian relief charity, known for emotional television appeals that help it raise a reported $1.1-billion a year, has been embroiled for months in a management fight that led Mr. Jones to fire the six directors, five of whom sued and were ordered reinstated by a judge. In a statement, Mr. Jones said that “the interests of the children we serve … were not being met as long as we were distracted by this lawsuit.”
