Fla. Hospital Gets $25-Million From Businessman’s Bequest

February 1, 2013, 10:38 am

Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida has received $25-million from the estate of a former patient, along with shares in his company that could eventually more than double the gift’s value, writes the South Florida Business Journal.

Richard Blackman, who died in September, was treated at the Boca Raton hospital’s Lynn Cancer Institute seven years ago. In addition to the cash donation, he left the cancer institute an 84-percent stake in his Blackman Plumbing Supply Co., which, when vested, could be worth more than $25-million, the hospital said.
