A Missouri woman was sentenced Thursday to 366 days in prison for embezzling $209,000 from the small-town church charity where she served as treasurer, says the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Nancy O’Donnell, 53, pleaded guilty in October to mail fraud in connection with the theft from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul chapter at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville, Mo. Prosecutors said Ms. O’Donnell opened a bogus credit-union account for the charity in 2006 and deposited cash and checks meant to support the charity’s work for the poor.

Ms. O’Donnell was ordered to repay $209,260, of which her attorney said she has already returned $192,000.
