The philanthropist Eli Broad has nearly doubled the size of a proposed Los Angeles-area home for his massive art collection, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Conceptual drawings delivered last month to officials in Beverly Hills, Calif., call for 49,100 square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibition space, compared to 25,000 in early plans. Beverly Hills and nearby Santa Monica are vying for the museum, and Mr. Broad said November 14 that an unnamed third location could be in the running.
In other arts news, Jazz at Lincoln Center named the singer and pianist Michael Feinstein to direct its new series on popular music, according to The New York Times. The appointment is part of an effort to broaden programming at the New York institution, taking in jazz-related forms such as blues and popular song.
