The International Committee for the Red Cross says it has trained and equipped more than 70 Taliban members as part of a program it initiated to deal with injuries sustained in battle, reports the Telegraph, a British newspaper.
The nonprofit organization, which says it remains neutral in global conflicts, also said it has provided first-aid training and kits to civilians living in conflict areas, Afghan security-forces personnel, taxi drivers used to transport the wounded, and the charity’s own staff members.

Neutral, Hell. The Red Cross officially recognizes the Red Crescent, Red Lion and other Muslim emblems, but rejected Israel’s Magen David. It’s as neutral as the despicable United Nations.

Actually, ppclic, that hasn’t been true for about four years now — since 22 June 2006, to be precise. This is the announcement in the 2006 annual report of the ICRC:”On 22 June 2006, both Magen David Adom and the Palestine Red Crescent Society were formally recognized by the ICRC and admitted to the Movement.” (http://www.icrc.org/Web/Eng/siteeng0.nsf/htmlall/738E75/$FILE/icrc_ar_06_israel.pdf)It’s time to let go of that one.

Actually, cassandra, what I stated is in fact still true. While the organization itself was admitted, it’s use of its symbol, a red Jewish star, is prohibited, despite the fact that Muslim sybols are permitted. Now YOU can let go of your bias.
