A Kenyan judge has prohibited a U.S. children’s charity from operating in Kenya and has ordered an investigation into charges of child trafficking, reports the Agence France-Presse.
The move came after a civil suit was brought against Kids Alive, a group that runs children’s homes, by two Kenyan organizations, alleging that Kids Alive illegally used children’s information to solicit donations and charging that the charity was involved in the disappearance of three children.
Alfred Lackey, the president of Kids Alive International, denied the allegations, saying that the people behind the lawsuit have a personal dispute with the charity.
“Saying that we trafficked three children is a horrible lie. We got the government approval to take two children and one adult to an exchange program in England and they are since back,” he tells the news service.
