L.A. Dodgers Repay Team’s Charity for Executive’s Wages

April 20, 2011, 10:28 am

The Los Angeles Dodgers have repaid the team’s charitable arm the $400,000 it spent on compensation to a team executive, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Howard Sunkin’s 2007 pay was equal to a quarter of the Dodgers Dream Foundation’s budget for that year, prompting the California attorney general’s office to start an investigation after the payments were revealed last year.

Mr. Sunkin oversaw the charity while serving as the baseball team’s senior vice president for public affairs.

Steve Soboroff, who was hired Tuesday as a Dodgers vice chairman overseeing the team’s philanthropic efforts, said the charity has been “doing a good job. Now they’ve had a hiccup, and now we’re going to look forward and just start and not have any more hiccups.”
