‘League of Extraordinary Women’ Works to Change Lives

June 21, 2012, 10:49 am

Business magazine Fast Company reports on a loose network of 60 female donors, celebrities, and business, academic, and government leaders working on philanthropic and entrepreneurial efforts to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide.

The group, which the magazine dubs the “League of Extraordinary Women,” features a mix of longtime leaders such as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and publisher Tina Brown and younger activists like philanthropist Jennifer Buffett and fashion executive Tory Burch.

The article credits them with pushing women’s and girls’ issues to the forefront at major global conferences such as the World Economic Forum and the Clinton Global Initiative, and it examines several individual members’ programs in health, education, microfinance, and other areas.
