Lions Club International Foundation took the top ranking in a Financial Times survey of nonprofit organizations that draw large amounts of corporate aid to promote international development.
The rankings of 34 organizations were included in a special report on philanthropy and corporate citizenship. The rankings examined an organization’s ability to carry out a program, demonstrate accountability, and understand the goals of its corporate supporters.
The series of articles, published to coincide with a United Nations meeting of corporate leaders concerned with global issues, examines how corporate partnerships with charities are changing and how nonprofit groups are becoming more professional, and takes a look at foundations and socially responsible investments.
In addition, the report examines whether big gifts are good for philanthropy and the fact that a growing number of companies are offering advisory services to donors.
