Moody Foundation Gives $20-Million for Rice U. Arts Center

February 13, 2013, 10:46 am

Plans for a 50,000-square-foot arts venue on the campus of Rice University have received a $20-million shot in the arm from the Moody Foundation, the Houston Business Journal writes.

The Houston university said Tuesday that the Moody Center for the Arts, now in the pre-design phase, is slated to open in 2015 with a theater, lecture and studio rooms, and a gallery exhibiting faculty and student work and curated shows. The proposal still requires an OK from the university’s trustees and as-yet-unspecified additional financial support.
