N.D. Salvation Army Buys Homeless Job Seekers a Ticket Home

January 11, 2013, 11:21 am

The Salvation Army in a North Dakota burg-turned-boomtown is helping job seekers who can’t afford to live there, according to CNN Money.

People have been flocking to Williston, N.D., in search of good-paying jobs as the oil industry has exploded there. But many cannot find jobs, others have trouble paying the town’s high rents, and still others can’t find a place to live.

The local Salvation Army helped 200 people last year, spending up to $80 per person for bus or train tickets or gas vouchers or putting the money toward pay airfare.
