A new Web site is applying one of the principles behind popular coupon and “daily deal” sites like Groupon and Living Social to philanthropy, Fast Company writes.
Philanthroper, which started on Monday, spotlights a different charity every day and accepts only $1 gifts. (Tuesday’s featured group is People’s Music School, in Chicago.) A penny per donation goes to a third party for processing bank transactions; Philanthroper, which is supported by advertising, takes no fees itself.
Mark Wilson, the site’s founder, said his goal is “to modernize the world of donation to appeal to today’s Internet culture” of micropayments and one-click transactions.

I’ll be interested in how successful this new online giving tool is! I’ve made some predictions of my own, and I would love to hear yours, too: http://www.jessicajourney.com/penniesfromheaven/
