Newtown Officials Urge Halt in Gifts

December 27, 2012, 11:49 am

Officials in Newtown, Conn. have asked people temporarily to stop sending items to the grief-stricken town, according to the Associated Press.

The small town has been deluged with donations of artwork and school supplies following the Dec. 14 shooting that killed 20 students and 6 educators, and warehouses are overflowing.

Meanwhile, a fund set up by the United Way of Western Connecticut to aid victims’ families has grown to $3.5-million.
