Nike Founder Pledges $100-Million to U. of Oregon

Philip H. Knight, who co-founded Nike, and his wife, Penelope, have pledged $100-million to the University of Oregon, Mr. Knight’s alma mater, according to the university. The money will create the Oregon Athletics Legacy Fund, which will support the university’s sports programs.

Mr. Knight graduated from the university in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. With his wife, Mr. Knight has supported the law school, the university’s libraries, and academic and athletic programs, and endowed several professorships.
