Nonprofit Theaters More Optimistic on Finances, Survey Finds

December 10, 2012, 8:51 am

More nonprofit stage groups believe their fiscal fortunes are stable or looking up, the Los Angeles Times reports, citing a new study by a national theater organization.

Theatre Communications Group polled 206 stage entities, divided among small, mid-size, and large organizations, with large majorities reporting better-than-expected donor and ticket revenue. Forty percent of respondents said they considered themselves to be “on the upswing”—up from 36 percent last year—and about half expected to increase their budgets in the next fiscal year.
