N.Y. Bureaucratic Bungle Disrupts $470-Million Pot for Charities

July 27, 2010, 12:49 pm

An error by New York officials in the planned disbursement of $470-million for programs for children has sown chaos among nonprofit service providers in the city, writes The New York Times.

The city has extended existing contracts while it conducts another review of aid applications, but the disruption has severely hampered planning and continuation of work for groups that provide services such as counseling, foster care, and AIDS education, the newspaper says.
