Key former White House and Obama campaign officials will lead a new nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing support for the president’s second-term agenda, writes the Associated Press.

The group, called Organizing for Action and set to be officially announced Friday, marks the first time a sitting president has transformed his campaign operation into an outside entity expressly to promote his programs.

Jim Messina, who managed President Obama’s re-election effort, will be the new group’s national chairman, and several campaign and White House aides will serve on its board. Democratic officials familiar with the plan said the 501(c)(4) organization will disclose its donors and will not take money from lobbyists or political-action committees.
