Once-Anonymous Donor Acknowledges $48-Million Gift to Ind. College

August 25, 2011, 10:03 am

Michael A. Evans, a businessman and scientist who anonymously gave $48-million to Marian University in Indianapolis last year to help establish a new school of osteopathic medicine has acknowledged the gift at the behest of school officials, writes the Indianapolis Star.

Daniel J. Elsener, president of Marian, said he persuaded Mr. Evans to own up to the donation and to allow the university to put his name on a new medical facility, to encourage others to give.

Ground was broken Wednesday on the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences, which will house the osteopathy division as well as Marian’s School of Nursing.

Mr. Evans is the founder of AIT Laboratories, an Indianapolis company that provides forensic and clinical testing and works on drug development.
