Join us next Tuesday, June 3, at noon for an online discussion with charities that have learned to get the most from their volunteers.
Our guests include:
- Darian Rodriguez Heyman, executive director of the Craigslist Foundation, in San Francisco, which helps nonprofit groups use their resources — including volunteers — more effectively.
- Gary Bagley, associate executive director of New York Cares, a charity that matches more than 36,000 volunteers with hands-on projects in New York schools, social-service groups, homeless shelters, and other charities. Those volunteers helped more than 400,000 people in 2007.
- Mary Roben, executive director of SmartVolunteer, a New York organization that runs a national Web site that pairs charities with volunteers who have a particular skill.
The discussion is open to everyone, not just Chronicle subscribers.
People who ask questions in advance have a better chance of receiving answers during the online discussion.
