The Greenlining Institute’s recent efforts to track the race of grant recipients of some of the nation’s largest foundations have not been helpful to those in need, according to an editorial in The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper says the foundations that have declined to provide information to the institute should be commended.

The Journal takes issue with Greenlining’s collection of data and cites a recent George Mason University study that was critical of the institute’s methodology.

“The idea that a charity must be “minority-led” to assist minorities is silly,” the Journal’s editorial board concludes.
