After Planned Parenthood offices were videotaped by an antiabortion group that pretended to represent teenage sex traffickers, the organization announced on Monday that it would give additional training to staff members nationwide on how to handle concerns about possible dangers to minors, according to The New York Times.
The organization also announced that after the extra training had been completed, it would automatically fire anyone who violated federal reporting rules for aiding young people who might be in trouble.
“We’re doing this to reassure the public that we take these reporting requirements seriously,” Stuart Schear, vice president for communications at the organization, said.
The move comes as anti-abortion activists seek to persuade lawmakers to deny federal money to Planned Parenthood. A bill to cut off aid is attracting support among numerous members of the House, the newspaper said.
Planned Parenthood’s action on Monday did not do much to change the view of the organization that created the videotape.
Lila Rose, president of Live Action, called the new measures “window dressing” and said, “Live Action’s investigation has uncovered a serious, institutional crisis in which Planned Parenthood is willing to aid and abet sex trafficking and exploitation of minors and young women.”

That’s great news! Now PP can keep their people focused on their core, cash cow business of providing abortion on demand to anyone who can pay. All this nonsense about sex trafficking and exploitation of minors was costing them money!

Jameyc, your comment is just not true. Unfortunately you have chosen to perpetuate myth-information about Planned Parenthood that ultimately will adversely affect those most at risk in our country who need reproductive health services.
Here are the facts:
FACT: Planned Parenthood is the leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate in the country. All are treated equally and no one is turned away because of a lack of health insurance or ability to pay. Contrary to what opponents would want you to believe 95% of Planned Parenthood’s work is about reproductive healthcare and family planning- papsmears, HIV and STD testing and counseling for men and women, sex education, birth control, advocacy etc . 5% of their work is providing safe abortions to women who make that difficult choice.
FACT: There has been a well-organized opposition to Planned Parenthood since its inception. This opposition comes in all forms: religious directives and penalties, misleading and dishonest writing, mean-spirited and threatening protests at clinics, restrictive legislation, and of course the worst, the killing of doctors.
FACT: Two bills have just been introduced in the House that are very worrying and should concern us all, men and women alike.
Since the 70′s there has been no federal spending for abortions except in cases of rape and where the health of the mother is at risk. The new bill wants to change this. They want the exceptions to be ‘only’ forcible rape (excluding statutory and coerced rape) and the death (not health) of the mother. They also want the new bill to be permanent , whereas the current bill needs renewing each year.
The second bill is directly aimed at Planned Parenthood. It would deny ‘any’ federal funds for family planning services to organizations that provide abortions. As I mentioned before, reproductive health-care is the bulk of Planned Parenthood’s work.
FACT: The opposition to reproductive rights also extends to sex education in our schools, where programs have fallen behind and many children receive none at all or just ‘abstinence only’ programs.
FACT: Many states are threatening to cut state-funded family planning which means the poorest among us will be affected.

FACT: The “forcible rape” language has been removed from pending legislation.
FACT: “Health of the mother” can mean anything you want it to mean. Mental health, social health, physical health, etc. “Death of the mother” can only mean ONE thing.
FACT: Abstinence is 100% effective. Why would you be against teaching that in school?
FACT: When the TRUTH is revealed — even to PP employees — they KNOW that abortion is nothing more than the taking of innocent life. See more on that here…

Good luck continuing to sell the myth that PP is anything other than a business that makes millions on abortions. With the new Congress and public sentiment turning against them, the days of federal funding for PP are numbered.

jameyc,
When someone has formed opinions based on religious beliefs, their minds are closed to opinions other than their own. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. Where that right ends is to impose one’s will upon another at that other’s right to their own opinion. Do you not agree with that? If you are against abortion for yourself that’s perfectly acceptable. But do not attempt to take away another’s right to choose for themselves.
I applaude your convictions, but do not deny me mine.
