Police Investigate Wiretapping at Big Antipoverty Charity

August 24, 2009, 1:14 pm

Oklahoma City police are investigating claims of illegal wiretapping at the headquarters of Feed the Children, one of the nation’s biggest antipoverty groups, according to The Oklahoman.

A private investigator hired by the Oklahoma City organization found microphone cables in the ceilings of three offices that led back to a telephone room where conversations could have been recorded, the newspaper reports.

Feed the Children has been wracked since late last year over a management struggle between Larry Jones, founder of the charity, and the board of directors. This month Mr. Jones ceded operational control of the organization but remains there as a fund raiser and spokesman.
