The executive director of a Toronto Salvation Army warehouse was fired Monday amid an inquiry into the disappearance of more than $2-million worth of toys from the facility, according to the Toronto Star. Charity officials said food and other donations are also missing.

The Salvation Army declined to identify the warehouse boss but said the official had been placed on paid leave in August after an anonymous whistle-blower, believed to be an employee of the charity, reported “irregularities” at the center, which received, sorted, and distributed food and toy donations. The charity declined to name the fired executive or to say if other employees were involved in the alleged theft, which is under police investigation.
